Presentation
Multicellular dynamics in Escherichia coli
Details
Event Description
Abstract: Escherichia coli is the best studied unicellular organism and its genetics have been thoroughly characterized. However, the behaviors it dynamically performs in patients and the environment remain unclear. Direct observation and dynamic modeling of these behaviors is critical for understanding antibiotic tolerance and the organization of multicellular communities, and moreover holds potential for clarifying the wealth of molecular insights already existing for this organism. This talk will highlight recent discoveries in E. coli multicellular dynamics and discuss their implications for fighting infectious diseases, programming new multicellular behaviors, and uncovering general principles of multicellularity.
